What is a trebuchet?

A trebuchet] (French trébuchet) is a siege engine used in the Middle Ages. It is sometimes called acounterweight trebuchet or counterpoise trebuchet, to distinguish it from an earlier weapon called the traction trebuchet, which employed pulling men working the mechanism.
The counterweight trebuchet appeared in both Christian and Muslim lands around the Mediterranean in the 12th century. It could fling projectiles weighing up to 350 pounds (160 kg) at or into enemy fortifications. Its use continued into the 15th century, well after the introduction of gunpowder.
The trebuchet's technical constructions were lost at the beginning of the 16th century. In 1984, the French engineer Renaud Beffeyte made the first modern reconstruction of a trebuchet, based on documents from 1324.

Research on Trebuchet

Today we had to research about our trebuchets. I think that i Am going to look at these designs to help me put it on 2D graph paper.

Trebuchet

Today in DF we watched heaps of videos to do with Catapults and Trebuchets. I am really excited for this unit of work and to work in a partner because its always easier to combined our knowledge and make it together! Sounds like this will be a great experience as the videos looked so good!

Racing

Today i finally got to racing my car! I got 3.9 seconds which is a lot but i am just proud i got it completed! I really enjoyed making the car because it was quick, easy, and fun!

Glueing!

Today i glued everything on and wired everything! it was a very eventful lesson as i quickly got straight in there and glued everything on and then wired everything up! I had some confusion in the way to wire it so i had to get some help from Brogan but then i finally figured it out ! When i tried to race it it was a disaster. the wheel fell off. But that was so easy to fix! I glued the wheel on and then we ran out of time so i couldn't race it or solder it :(

Putting the car together

today i put the wheel sticks into the wheel and glued it onto my car. It took me quite a while to get the right measurements so i didnt get much done this lesson but next lesson i am aiming to get the motor/ switch on the car!

Making the car

Today i went into the workshop and started creating my car. I thought that the rectangle would be a much better idea as it's more stable and could hold the motor and wheels, etc. I started with cutting out my rectangle and cutting my wheels holder.

Designing the car

Today in DF I designed my car! I made 2 shapes with 2 different materials in my head. The first shape was a triangle made out of paddle pop sticks, and the second shape was just a rectangle with the material like plastic.

Creating the car

Today in DF we were told we were making a car! i was so happy that we were as we did in grade 7 or 8 i think and now we are doing a much more complex one! I'm not sure what shape yet but I am very excited about making it :)
